Anything But Typical by Nora Raleigh Baskin
Jason is autistic and a writer. He used to have a full time aide but now has to negotiate school on his own. He has a hard time adjusting especially when things don't go his way. His one outlet is writing. He writes his stories on a online storyboard. Slowly he begins to form a relationship with a girl who reads his stories, Phoenix Bird. When his parents tell him that they are taking him to the storyboard convention he doesn't know what to do because Phoenix Bird might be there too and he doesn't want her to know that he is autistic.
This book was very well written. However, I felt the some of the content was a little high level for the age group. There were many moments where I had to stop to figure out what exactly was going on because there were times when he was daydreaming but it was hard to tell that he was daydreaming. Overall, it was a great book and had an accurate description of a teenager dealing with autism.
