Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X Stork

Marcelo In The Real WorldMarcelo is teenage boy with high functioning autism. He has always gone to a special school to help him adapt to the "real world." During the summer before his senior year at Paterson, his dad decides he needs to experience the real world and learn the rules of the real world. He will work in the mail room at his father's law firm. While there, he works with Jasmine in the mail room. Him and Jasmine get along great even though she really wanted someone else to work there. Marcelo also meets Wendell, his father's partners son. Wendell tries to teach Marcelo about women. Marcelo soon realizes who his true friends are at the firm when he uncovers some hidden secret. Now he must decide what to do with these secrets while following the rules of the real world.
Marcelo in the Real World is a fantastic book Stork did an excellent job portraying an autistic teenager out in the world for the first time. It is an amazing thought provoking book that makes you think about who people really are and how others see the world. I was highly impressed with the writing as well as the portrayal of all the characters.
